Oh nostalgia. To test the expectations and perhaps even the perceived conformity of the listening public, back during those days when a music seller could strip open and pop on a nearly random CD, is kept fondly in remembrance. Hey, I got here a recommendation: try out the funk/reggae outfit by the name of Cymande. Quite haven't heard a sound like theirs. Interesting history, too. Most of the musicians hail from the vicinity of northern South America, but grouped up and recorded in '71-'73 in England. Enough melodic hooks to catch the modern listener's attention, but still "out there" for the musician's ear.

Close... but this is Darius the Great, not to be confused with Darius the Mede, Darius the Milhaud, or Danny the K :-)

Is that "Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans"? And is the Seed of the Medes the one who put the pellet with the poison in the flagon with the dragon?

...well, now I'll pay great attention to your new jacket! See you tonight at the big box (holidays in retail bring out the best, don't they?)

Cool. Will check your other blog. Justpopped over here because I thought of you while listening to a new composition at Tobias Haller's blog -- strings and synthesizer and I'm not sure what else, but he explains some of it in the comments and it all has biblical themes. Check it out. I'm so glad you posted - didn't expect to get an update since it's been so long.

Will be in Berkeley I think mid-June! Details off-blog.

And I'm blogging like a maniac.

Off to check out the Voices.
